What Is the Autism Waiver?
Maryland’s Autism Waiver is a home and community-based services program for eligible children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The program is designed to provide services and supports that allow eligible children to remain in their homes and communities rather than receiving care in an institutional setting. Maryland’s current Autism Waiver information identifies services including Therapeutic Integration, Intensive Individual Support Services, Family Consultation, Respite Care, Residential Habilitation, Environmental Accessibility Adaptations, and Adult Life Planning.
Eligibility is determined by Maryland’s program requirements. Current state guidance includes requirements related to an autism diagnosis, level-of-care needs, age, educational services, ability to be safely supported in the community, and financial eligibility.
